The Challenge
Working airside at Terminal 2 introduced strict delivery curfews, with trucks unloading at 11:30pm and every door and tool x-rayed and bomb-swiped before reaching site. Across seven tenancies, designers wanted a closure that delivered shopfront security without trip hazards or visible floor tracks — and Three Chocolatiers needed an existing door retrofitted to provide airflow.

KRGS supplied custom Folding Closures with powder-coat finishes and curved head tracks shaped to each tenancy. With no floor track, the closures eliminated OH&S trip hazards. The Lego store team initially specified a graduated panel palette from purple to pink; when that proved cost-prohibitive, KRGS settled the design on Dulux Intensity Moonlight. For Three Chocolatiers, the existing solid clear polycarbonate infill was removed and replaced with a mesh infill delivering 51% airflow.

Folding closures delivered for Amcal Chemist, Relay, Blue Illusion, Newslink, Kaboom and Lego, with Three Chocolatiers refurbished in place. KRGS worked alongside shopfitters, architects, designers and Sydney Airport’s stakeholders from approval through installation.
